Michael joined Grahame Stowe Bateson as a trainee solicitor in 1991, having previously worked as a social worker in London and Edinburgh for 10 years. He qualified in 1993 and became a partner in 1998.
He specialises in all aspects of Family Law, particularly Children Act matters, divorce and matrimonial finance and he represents both publicly funded and private clients. He is also a member of the Law Society's Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel and regularly represents detained clients at tribunals.
He is the mental health law supervisor within the firm, ensuring that quality assurance standards set by the Legal Services Commission are maintained. On occasion he lectures on mental health issues on national courses for psychiatrists.
